Diesel Technology is a scholarship-eligible program for Gadsden State’s Dual Enrollment Program. The program is available to eligible high school students. Through Dual Enrollment, students earn both college and high school credits. Eligible students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. Shelton State Community College

Shelton State Community College has partnered with ACCS (Alabama Community College System) and the Innovation Center to streamline the process of becoming a CDL holder. Part I will allow students to complete the Classroom Portion Online at their own pace without attending a normal classroom. Upon successful completion of Part I, students will be placed in que to complete Part II. Part II consists of the “behind the wheel” portion of the class. Students will learn hands-on driving instruction at Shelton State to prepare them for the Department of Transportation’s Road Test.

The Diesel Mechanics program trains students to remove, repair, install, and maintain diesel engines powering heavy trucks, buses, boats, diesel-powered equipment, and construction equipment, such as bulldozers, cranes, and diesel farm tractors.
