Bishop State Community College’s Commercial Vehicle Driving Course is an eight-week program that will help you develop the necessary skills needed to obtain a CDL Class A license. The program is designed to provide students an opportunity to acquire the basic skills, knowledge, and fortitude to become entry-level employees in the commercial truck driving field. The curriculum is based on the Department of Transportation Model Program for Truck Driving Training. Diesel Technology is a scholarship-eligible program for Gadsden State’s Dual Enrollment Program. The program is available to eligible high school students. Through Dual Enrollment, students earn both college and high school credits. Eligible students must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA. They must be a high school sophomore, junior or senior, and they must have approval from a high school counselor or administrator. Limited scholarships and grants are available!
Gadsden State Community College's truck driving program teaches students to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles and other commercial vehicles. Successful completers earn a Class A Commercial Driver’s License. Students in the Diesel Technology program receive the basic knowledge and skills necessary to secure and hold an entry-level job in diesel mechanics. Completers of the program will receive a certificate.

Roadmaster Drivers School provides CDL Training in Birmingham, Alabama. Our truck driving school in Alabama provides hands-on CDL training so students may develop real-world truck driving skills and earn their Class A CDL license.
Shelton State Community College has partnered with ACCS (Alabama Community College System) and the Innovation Center to streamline the process of becoming a CDL holder. Part I will allow students to complete the Classroom Portion Online at their own pace without attending a normal classroom. Upon successful completion of Part I, students will be placed in que to complete Part II. Part II consists of the “behind the wheel” portion of the class. Students will learn hands-on driving instruction at Shelton State to prepare them for the Department of Transportation’s Road Test.
The Diesel Mechanics program trains students to remove, repair, install, and maintain diesel engines powering heavy trucks, buses, boats, diesel-powered equipment, and construction equipment, such as bulldozers, cranes, and diesel farm tractors. Principles of diesel engines are taught and reinforced in laboratory experiences using actual diesel equipment.
